Teeth Crowns
When a patient has a natural tooth that has been damaged due to decay or injury, or is weakened due to a root canal procedure or outdated filling, your doctor may recommend a porcelain crown. A porcelain crown, or cap, is shaped out of porcelain to fit on the tops of teeth and comfortably fit your unique bite. Cemented onto the tooth with a special adhesive and fitted at the gumline, a porcelain crown can add significant strength to your tooth, protect the enamel under it, and allows you to continue chewing normally.
Crowns are placed in two visits: In the first occasion, one of our cosmetic dentists will take an impression of your teeth and place a temporary crown while the permanent restoration is being crafted in the dental lab. In the second visit, the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is placed.
Because the porcelain material used for crowning is tooth-colored and chosen to fit your tooth shade, modern porcelain crowns look and feel just like natural teeth.
